The Green Lake, part 5: Creatures

Next post about the Green Lake with some old and early work, covering several visual possibilities for other beings within the story's world.  I just fooled around with descriptions of the creatures in mind, because my recent focus lay on the characters you can see in the earlier posts.

The Green Lake, part 4: A Giant!

This is Gundhar, another character from the Green Lake - Saga I started to work out in my BA-Thesis.
There are lots more characters, creatures and things in the story I tried out sketching, coming in the next couple of days.

The Green Lake, part 3: The World

And finally some Background Development for the world of Green Lake.
I'm still working on this thing, so be patient and wait for new stuff to come in the next couple of weeks, for I'm still developing and expanding the design.

The Concepts are digital collages composed of sketches I did at the tropical houses in Hamburg.

The Green Lake, part 2: Ormisel

Second part of the Green Lake posts is about the second character I developed in my Bachelor Thesis. His name's Ormisel and carries a mjor role in the story.

After a long search for the right direction, I also defined the character of Ormisel with large charcoal drawings, following my experience with Turgel.
The needed poses and expressions came to me quite easily then.

The Green Lake, part 1: Old Turgel

The following works are part of a long term project based on a story written by a friend of mine. The story has fantastic descriptions of the characters and environments, which inspired me a lot, so I even chose that story, The Green Lake, as an outline for my Bachelor-thesis.

I focused on developing two characters from the story, of which I'm introducing the first one here, the Old Turgel.

This is the short version of the way from the first inspirations to the idea that I felt I wanted to explore further. I chose to work bigger and in charcoal to better catch the feeling of that character.

After the character had been defined I started to work out poses and expressions.

At the moment I'm planning test animations with the characters from the story, so stay tuned for these!
As well as for sketches of the other character, Ormisel, and Background concepts, of course!
